Even though the game seems to be immunized to new ideas, here are a few key pointers to how I generate leading counters in PVP. I hope it's helpful! A couple things to note:

1. Yes, most theory crafting begins in the abstract.
2. Not every roster can test ideas (Why it's also important to leverage others.)
3. The game is complex and diverse. Just because you found a pattern against one test subject in arena, doesn't mean it's real. Have people slowly test your ideas in other environments to support your ideas. Peer review is important!
4. Have fun and think creatively. Some of the best counters have come from the most unlikely of places!
