You can auto with this comp right from the beginning for about a 50-60% completion rate. However you'll notice in my battle I play manual just until I can taunt with Krrsantan, at that point I find a roughly 90% success rate on my autos.
I do not believe full r8 teams are necessary, but it makes sense to get there for ROTE anyway.
